This year’s event was a huge success! Check out photos from it on our Facebook page!
Girls Getaway Weekend is back for the seventh year on Saturday, April 2, 2016!
[This post has been updated due to new details in the schedule!]
This event takes place from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. in Muscatine’s Historic Downtown and is a fabulous way to kick off the spring season. The day begins with a brunch provided and served by the United Way Kids First Fund, which gives aid to youth in Muscatine — so you’re not only having fun, but helping a great cause!
Brunch is followed up by a style show by The HallTree Boutique. The HallTree Boutique is a women’s clothing store housed in Muscatine’s Pearl Plaza, a downtown shopping center that you’ll definitely want to check out during the day. HallTree takes up two whole storefronts, so there are plenty of fashion forward options to choose from.
Then, directly after the style show, Salon Incognito will be holding a seminar. Salon Incognito is a full service eco-friendly salon. It is also located in Muscatine’s downtown right across the street from We Can Frame That and Muscatine Photography Studio, which will be holding seminars from 11 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. during the day.
We Can Frame That features fine art by local artists, so you can take a piece of Muscatine beauty home with you, if you so choose. Muscatine Photography Studio is a rent-by-the-hour studio for photographers to use to further their business and their craft.
Creations by Oz will boast another seminar opportunity. Guests will get to make and take a custom bracelet while enjoying the ambiance of another piece of Muscatine history, since Creations by Oz owner Melissa Osborne has restored the 103-year-old building to its original glory. While you’re there, don’t forget to ask her about George Volger, the jeweler who used to have a business in her building and who met his tragic end there. And of course, don’t forget to shop!
Fresh Vintage will be giving a seminar as well. Another Pearl Plaza store, Fresh Vintage offers upcycled and repurposed furnishings as well as a variety of paint classes for the DIYer and is a stockist of Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. As a bonus, Fresh Vintage will also be holding their event Bottles & Birdhouses the night before Girls Getaway! If you’re coming in from out of town, you should consider coming for their event and staying over for ours — let Muscatine treat you to a whole weekend of fun!
The details for the day are still being finalized, but you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy seminars and/or deals from other stores including The Flower Gallery, BAAR Beauty Salon, Pro Hair Designs Salon and Spa, Just Because, Candle Shed Effect, The Wild Thing, Healing Touch and more! RSVP to the Facebook event to stay up-to-date on all the details! Register for the event now at downtownmuscatine.com.
